📍 Fumizen Japanese Restaurant
34 Sgt. Esguerra Ave, Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila
(02) 8370 5587
Hey Foodies! Here’s something to watch out and must try! This Japanese restaurant has really good food! When I thought of Japanese cuisine, “Tonkatsu” comes to my mind—deep-fried breaded pork cutlets that usually pair with sliced cabbages which is a classic and also one of my favorite! They also included rolls and appetizers to satisfy the filipino palates!
The busy street of Sgt. Esguerra Avenue is just 6-7 min walk from Quezon Avenue station (MRT 3) or Quezon Ave / EDSA Intersection. Fumizen Japanese Restaurant PH is a franchise business from Fumizen in Hotel New Otani Tokyo that was founded 40 years ago. They are known for offering reasonably priced high-grade tonkatsu dishes as well as other japanese cuisine.

Fun fact: Fumizen offers truffle salt as condiment which is perfect if you want your katsu or any fried dishes to be more flavorful.

My Personal Review
Ambience and location — air-conditioned, well- ventilated, spacious that can accommodate groups. With 40-50 seating capacity on the first floor plus an ongoing renovation on the second floor for business meetings, family gatherings and more which will be ready once they are fully operational. (6-12 capacity per private rooms)
Selections and food — Wide variety of Katsu Sets, Rolls, Sald and appetizers. I tried assorted katsu set which I get to taste everything! I like them all to be honest. For rolls, They have Cheese Salmon Aburi Maki, Spicy Salmon Aburi Maki
, Hamachi Aburi Maki, and Special Fumizen California Makin roll. All are must have! For appetizers, I prefer their crunchy tuna crackers because it’s mouthwatering and delightful.
Value for money — Katsu set starts at 375 PHP. For me it’s reasonable since they present high-grade tonkatsu dishes as well as other japanese cuisine.
